Coach Josh has over 25 years of experience as a swimmer and coach. Since joining the X-Cel Coaching Staff in May 2009, Coach Josh has developed top swimmers in the region and country, including 16 Junior National qualifiers (two medalists), 6 U.S. Open qualifiers, and a 2020 Olympic Trial qualifier. His swimmers have achieved multiple New Jersey State Records and National Age Group top ten times (including one #1 in the U.S.). He has also coached New Jersey Junior Olympic High Point Champions, Eastern Zone Champions, Sectional Champions, and led X-Cel to a 2nd place men’s team finish at the 2018 Sectionals with a 5th place combined team finish (with 35 Sectional qualifiers that year).

As an age group club swimmer for Eastern Express and X-Cel, Coach Josh was a 3-time New Jersey Junior Olympic High Point Champion, Eastern Zone Champion, record holder of 3 New Jersey State events, and achieved 4 National Age Group Top Ten times.

At Lawrence High School, Coach Josh competed in his junior and senior years and led the swim team to the 2005 Mercer County Tournament Team title. He was a 4-time Individual MCT Champion, winning the 2005 Most Valuable Player award while breaking the County Record in the 200 individual medley. Coach Josh ended his high school career with 7 LHS records and was the school’s first and only State Champion, winning the 200 individual medley at the Meet of Champions in 2004. The Trenton Times and Trentonian named him Swimmer of the Year both years he competed (2004 and 2005) and selected him as one of the Trentonian’s Top 10 high school swimmers of the decade 2000-2010 for Mercer County.

Coach Josh continued his success at the Division 1 level for Rider University from 2005 to 2009. There, he competed at the USA Swimming Senior National Championships. He won 15 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) titles (10 individual, 5 relay), went undefeated in both the 100 & 200 backstroke events at the Conference Championships all 4 years, and set 3 individual conference records. He is a recipient of the 2008 MAAC Conference MVP award. Coach Josh completed his career at Rider with 7 school records as team captain. Upon graduation, Josh was a volunteer coach at Rider for the 2009-2010 season and Head Strength Coach for the 2014-2015 season.

In addition to coaching competitive swimming, Coach Josh is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has over 13 years of Personal Training experience.
